Coadministration has not been studied. Magnesium is eliminated in kidney, mainly by glomerular filtration. Dolutegravir binds to divalent cations, such as magnesium, and forms a complex at the level of the gastro-intestinal tract which results in less dolutegravir being absorbed. No interaction is expected with abacavir or lamivudine. Triumeq and supplements containing magnesium can be taken together with food. If Triumeq is taken in a fasted state, magnesium supplements should be taken at least 2 hours after or 6 hours before Triumeq.
