No Interaction Expected
Doravirine (DOR)
Etonogestrel (implant)
Quality of Evidence: Very Low
Summary:
Coadministration with an etonogestrel-containing progestogen-only implant and doravirine alone has not been studied but based on metabolism and clearance a clinically significant interaction is unlikely. Etonogestrel is metabolized by CYP3A4. Doravirine does not inhibit or induce CYP enzymes and no effect is expected on etonogestrel exposure. This was confirmed in a pharmacokinetic study comparing etonogestrel Cmin of an etonogestrel implant when coadministered with doravirine, lamivudine, tenofovir-DF or a dolutegravir-containing regimen and which showed no significant differences in the GM Cmin of etonogestrel between the two ARV treatment groups.
