Potential Interaction
Tenofovir-DF (TDF)
Telavancin
Quality of Evidence: Very Low
Summary:
Coadministration has not been studied but based on metabolism and clearance a pharmacokinetic interaction is unlikely. Telavancin is primarily excreted as unchanged drug in the urine. Tenofovir (derived from tenofovir-DF) is eliminated renally. Tenofovir-DF should be avoided with concurrent or recent use of a nephrotoxic agent such as telavancin due to the potential for additive nephrotoxicity. If coadministration is unavoidable, renal function should be monitored closely.
